FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to common questions about our mobile CT scanning services, scheduling, pricing, and what to expect during your visit.

Where are we located?

DDS Scan is a mobile CT scanning service, meaning we come directly to you! Our services are available throughout the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs.

Is this covered by insurance?

DDS Scan does not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide patients with an itemized receipt that they may submit to their insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

How much does a scan cost?

The cost of a scan can vary depending on the type of scan requested by the doctor. Patients will be informed of the price prior to the scan.

Does travel distance affect the cost of a scan?

Yes. Our standard pricing applies within our primary service area. For dental offices located farther away, pricing may vary depending on travel distance and scheduling. Please contact us for a customized quote based on your location.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, debit cards, credit cards, and checks. A 3% processing fee applies to credit card payments. Payment is due at the time the scan is completed.

How long does the scan take?

The CBCT scan itself typically takes less than one minute, and the entire appointment usually takes about 10–15 minutes.

What should I expect during the scan?

The scan is quick, comfortable, and non-invasive. Patients simply sits still while the scanner rotates around the head for a few seconds to capture the 3D image.

Do patients receive a copy of the scan?

Scan files are primarily sent to the referring dental office for diagnostic and treatment planning purposes. Patients may also request a copy of their scan, which can be provided via secure email or on a CD.

Is the scan safe?

Yes. CBCT scans use a low dose of radiation and are commonly used in dentistry for accurate 3D imaging. Your dentist will only recommend a scan when it is necessary for diagnosis or treatment planning.
